John Andrews
John’s career and passion for this industry started straight out of school when he opened the successful Blue Cube Hair Design in Auckland at age 19. He leapt to nationwide fame as a male model in the s and modeled overseas while owning Blue Cube salon in Auckland. Modeling alongside Rachel Hunter and Simon Le Bon of Duran Duran fame, John also had a contract with NZ’s hit TV show "Sale of the Century" as one of the team models alongside Steve Parr and Judith Kirk for 500 episodes, and was voted’s best-dressed man at that time. John has done modeling stints all over the globe, mingling with UK rock legends Elton John and Freddie Mercury, as well as numerous NZ artists and supermodels. Narcs, Peking Man, and the team at Blue Cube were honored to be the stylists for the last Benson &edges Fashion Awards NZ saw. John and the team at Blue Cube also did various fashion shoots for Style Magazine and Fashion Quarterly. After spending time in Australia, relocated to Wellington, NZ, to be closer to his family. Then, on August 25th, 2011, John, along with Minz, opened Studio 128, where the magic began.
Miranda Malcolmson
Minz
Minz has a true passion for hairdressing and has been a stalwart of the Wellington hairstyling scene for past two decades. Her career has seen her working in some of the top salons across the northern suburbs and in Wellington City, including Headwaves,op, Colin Lovering, and Sarak, collecting many loyal and regular customers along the way. Minz is dedicated to the industry and continuously upskills herself in this fast-paced, ever-changing business. the past, she has styled hair for the Vodafone Music Awards, and while that was rewarding, her true love is making people feel good about themselves and putting a smile on her clients' faces. When Minz and John opened Studio 128 in 2011, they created a peaceful, private salon that provides the very best services, and she found the ultimate home. Minz will you that she thrives in the summertime (her favorite time of year), so the sun is out, you can find her camping, traveling overseas, or simply spending time with and friends and walking her dog, Honey.
Isabella Vaianu
Izzy
Izzy is our fully qualified senior stylist, proud to be trained under Studio 128. She first joined Studio 128 after leaving college in2019, initially gaining work experience throughout 2020. Iz has known John and Minz since she was young, so she knew exactly who she wanted to learn from and where she wanted to work. Her passion lies in working alongside Minz and John, learning about precision cutting, creating styles that best suit the clients of Studio 128, and working with bright colors. She is also enthusiastic about getting creative with the latest hair trends. Izzy a wizard with the curling wand, and watching create all types of curls is nothing short of magic. In her spare time, Izzy enjoys keeping up with the latest fashion online, listening to, and playing the piano, so it’s not ALL about hair.
